THE HEART BEHIND OUR OCTOBER INITIATIVE
In loving memory of
Barbara Lynne Krell.
1943–2000 · Mother. Grandmother. Adventurer.
A life filled with love. A legacy that keeps giving.
In 2000, SuperDTF founder Matthew Parsons lost his grandmother Barbara to breast cancer. Her memory is the reason our October initiative exists: to turn love into support for breast cancer research.

REMEMBERING BARBARA
Family was her
greatest adventure.
Barbara devoted her life to her family. She raised three sons, celebrated their achievements, and was there for them through life's difficult moments. Her love reached across generations to her grandchildren.
She also loved exploring the outdoors. Backpacking in the Grand Canyon with her children brought her immense joy. Her final trip there, in the summer of 1999 with all three sons, became a treasured family memory.
“You were her pride and joy!”
Her husband's words to their three sons
HER LEGACY. OUR SHARED IMPACT.

A MESSAGE FROM GRANDPA
The memories
we carry.
A note to Matthew from his grandfather, shared in Barbara's memory.
Matthew,
Since you are the only one of her grandchildren to have actually known her, I thought you might like reading this tribute to Barbara. The balloon you released with a message to her after her funeral was touching and has stayed with me and will forever. It was a beautiful thought, no doubt inspired by your Mom.
Love,
Grandpa

A mother's love
“Barbara was so very proud of her three sons. She devoted her life to taking care of you and me. Despite her Catholic University degree, once our first son was born, she never considered working. She nursed all three of you for the first year of your lives, changed hundreds and hundreds of your diapers, and fed you your first solid foods when you were old enough.”
“She exulted in your achievements, grieved with the hurt of your lost girlfriends, and always, always wanted the best for each of you. You were her pride and joy!”
A surprise reunion
“I plotted with Uncle Brian to enable him to join her on the trip with her hiking club to the Canyon. When she saw him at the airport in Las Vegas, she was shocked! Brian got the picture of her with her mouth gaping at the surprise of seeing him!”
